The whole “no spend” aspect of this month has not gone as planned or intended. I have not spent a not-allowed dime, but tomorrow will purchase a diaper sprayer from a neighbor for $25; I couldn’t pass it up and since it will be a yardsale purchase I can’t expect for it to be held for me for a month. The birthday present I purchased (an exception purchase I went into the month expecting) was a steal and between that and the pajamas for Elizabeth, which I allowed myself $50 for, I was well under budget! In fact, I never reached $50 between both transactions, yay for bargain shopping!
However, my dear husband has gone well over budget for a “no spend” month. Most of his purchases have been somewhat rationalized, but they are still discouraging regardless. I’m still keeping my fingers crossed that he will progress during this month and potentially create a habit to be able to cooperate during the next attempt we make.
I’ve given myself the confidence that I can do this! I will need to go to a grocery store this weekend to purchase some necessities like milk, bread, eggs, the oreos mentioned in a previous post, fresh fruit, and about $10 worth of cleaning supplies, if that. I’m hoping I can keep everything under $40 for my grocery trip, I’ll let you know if I can do that while still getting everything on my list.
However I have been keeping myself busy with around-the-house move preparation. I sold a couple bookshelves to add some money to our “refurnish” fund, I packed away some pillows and blankets, packed up belongings in our guest bedroom and prepped some of the furniture for sale, did some typical cleaning around the house and yard, and mainly kept the child and dogs alive and well.
Wish me luck for the remainder of the month, and send “get with it” vibes to my husband please! 😛
